Khulna maintain win spree beating topper Dhaka
Chittagong: Khulna Titans started the Chittagong phase campaign of the 4th Bangladesh Premier League T20 with a nine-run victory over table topper Dhaka Dynamites at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Saturday.
After the day's result, Titans ripen their 4th win playing five matches while Dynamites conceded 2nd loss in their six encounters of the seven-team franchised tournament. Titans advanced to 3rd slot from 4th, earning eight points from five games.
Dynamites followed by Rangpur Riders with eight points from five matches.
In the day's match, Dynamites failed to chase a target of 158, finishing the innings at 148 for all in 19.1 overs.
Number-9 batsman Seekkuge Prasanna hit a quick half century of 53 off 22 balls firing seven over-boundaries and was caught by Ariful Haque off Kevon Cooper at Dynamites final figure.
Mosaddek Hossain scored 35 off 28 balls, including two boundaries and two sixes, while Sunzamul Islam and Matt Coles added 11 and 12 runs respectively.
The day's man of the match 'Mosharraf Hossain' claimed three wickets -- Mosaddek Hossain, skipper Shakib Al Hasan and Sunzamul Islam -- for 31 runs in four overs.
Kevon Cooper also captured three wickets conceding 35 runs in 3.1 overs.
Taibur Rahman took one wicket for economic five-run in one over. Delivering four-over each, Junaid Khan and Shafiul Islam took one wicket apiece for 18 and 21 runs.
Titans scored 157 for 5 in 20 overs enhanced by the 5th wicket stand of 57 in 6 overs between skipper Mhamudullah and Taibur Rahman.
The 5th pair started from 96/4 in 13.2 overs and carried the team total to 153/5 in 19.2 overs, before Mhamudullah was caught by Dwayne Bravo off Mohammad Shahid bowling.
Mahmudullah hammered him maiden BPL fifty in this edition featuring four boundaries and four over-boundaries off 44 balls for top-scoring 62 runs.
Taibur Rahman played till the end for unbeaten 21 off 22 balls including one boundary.
Titans faced the first jolt in the very 4th ball of the innings losing opening batsman Hasanuzzaman with duck when the team collection was at 3/1. Hasanuzzaman was run out by Sunzamul Islam off skipper Shakib Al Hasan bowling.
Shuvagata Hom was bowed out by Dwayne Bravo at 67/3 in 8.3 overs, scoring 24 off 20 balls that witnessed four boundaries.
Opener Andre Fletcher scored 20 off 16 balls, including one boundary and one six, before being caught by Nasir Hossain off Sunzamul Islam bowling at 23/2 in 4 overs.
Nicholas Pooran was departed at 96/4 in 13.2 overs, adding run-a-ball 16 with one four and one six to be another double figure scorer for the side elected to bat first after winning the toss.
Dwayne Bravo bagged two wickets for 27 runs in four overs while Sunzamul Islam and Mohammad Shahid took one wicket each for 22 and 38 runs respectively in three and four overs.
