Chittagong: Khulna Titans advanced to the top of the points table of the 4th Bangladesh Premier League beating Barisal Bulls by 22 runs in their 6th encounter at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium here on Sunday.

Khulna secured 10 points from six games having five wins and one loss to dethrone table topper Dhaka Dynamites followed by Rangpur Riders.

Chasing a target of 152, Barisal Bulls were forced by Khulna pacer Shafiul Islam who took 4 for 17 in 3.3 overs to fold their innings on 129/10 in 19.3 overs.

Barisal skipper Mushfiqur Rahim scored highest 35 off 23 balls, including four boundaries, while Shahriar Nafees (28), opener Jeevan Mendis (21), Rayad Emrit (14) and Shamsur Rahman (12) were other double figure scorers for the side which remained in the previous 4th position collecting six points from six outings with three wins and three loses. 

Mosharraf Hossain and Junaid Khan bagged two wickets each for 24 and 29 runs respectively.

Day's man of the match Mahmudullah and Kevon Cooper took one wicket each for 28 and 30 runs.

Earlier, Mahmudullah Riyad and Riki Wessels scored 44 and 40 runs respectively to take Khulna Titans to 151 against Barisal Bulls in their 6th encounter of the 4th Bangladesh Premier League at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium here on Sunday.

Sent in to bat first, Khulna posted the total in 20 overs for 7 riding on the 3rd and 5th wicket contributions of 53 and 47 runs respectively.

Mahmudullah and Riki Wessels paired to play 6.1 overs in the 3rd wicket to carry the team total to 77/3 in 11 overs from 24/2 in 4.5 overs before skipper Mahmudullah was caught by Rumman Raees off spinner Taijul Islam bowling. Mahmudullah played 26 balls hammering fire three boundaries and one six.

Riki Wessels and Ariful Haque built the 5th pair and stayed for 5.1 overs to carry the team total to 125/5 in 16.2 overs from 78/4 in 11.1 overs before Wessels was bowled out by Rayad Emrit.

Ariful Haque played unbeaten 26 off 22 balls, including three boundaries. 

Hasanuzzaman fired three boundaries to add run-a-ball 19 while Taibur Rahman played run-a-ball 10, including one boundary.

Taijul Islam captured three wickets for 18 runs in four overs while Thisara Perera, Rayad Emrit and Rumman Raees took one wicket each for 25, 30 and 32 runs respectively.

On Monday's two matches at the same venue, Dhaka Dynamites will take on Rajshahi Kings at 1 pm while Comilla Victorians face Chittagong Vikings starting at 5:45 pm.
