Chittagong: Rajshahi Kings bounced back into the winning streak in the 4th Bangladesh Premier League with a three-wicket over Dhaka Dynamites at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Monday after suffering three consecutive defeats.

With this result, Rajshahi collected four points from six encounters having two wins and four loses while Dhaka Dynamites remained in their previous collection of eight points from seven matches to maintain the 2nd slot in the table bagging four wins and two loses.

Interestingly, Rajshahi's both wins came against Dhaka Dynamites and both cases, Samit Patel was adjudged man of the match. Rajshahi secured their first victory against Dhaka by six wickets in the 7th match of the tournament in Mirpur where Patel scored unbeaten 44 for the winners.

In the day's match, chasing a target of 183, Rajshahi scored 184 for 7 in 19.5 overs spurred by the 3rd pair contribution of 100 in 10.3 overs between Samit Patel and Mominul Haque.

Number-8 batsman Mehedi Hasan Miraz hammered a boundary off Matt Coles in 19.5 overs to draw the winning line as well as to secure a win with the highest chase in this edition BPL.

Rajshahi required 9 runs in the last over when Abul Hasan and Mehedi Hasan Miraz were on batting with 5 and 1 runs respectively. However, Matt Coles dismissed Abul Hasan in the first ball that created much pressure on Rajshahi.

Farhad Reza came to crease to score 5 off 2 balls, including a boundary in the 3rd ball, before Miraz hammered the match winning boundary in the 5th delivery.

Man of the match Samit Patel top-scored 75 off 39 balls that witnessed five boundaries and six over boundaries before he was bowled out by skipper Shakib Al Hasan at 154/4 in 15.5 overs.

On the way to his 3rd half century in this edition BPL, opener Mominul Haque hammered 56 off 42 balls, featuring eight boundaries and one six.

Patel and Mominul paired in the 3rd wicket to recover the early dent of Rajshahi, carrying the team total to 131/3 in 14.3 overs from 31/2 in 4 overs before Mominul was caught by Nasir Hossain off Mohammad Shahid bowling.

Umar Akmal was another double figure scorer with 12 off 6 balls, including two boundaries.

Delivering four overs each, Dwayne Bravo and Mohammad Shahid captured three and two wickets respectively for 35 and 29 runs.

Matt Coles and Shakib Al Hasan took one wicket each for 35 and 36 runs in 2.5 and 4 overs.

Earlier, Lankan experienced wicketkeeper-batsman Kumar Sangakkara's half century of 66 runs enabled Dhaka Dynamites to score 182 for 4 in 20 overs against Rajshahi Kings.

Besides his individual score, Sangakkara stayed with Mehedi Maruf in the opening stand for 71 in 8.4 overs apart from another partnership with Mosaddek Hossain for 48 in 5.3 overs in the 2nd wicket.

Sangakkara fired five boundaries and three sixes off 46 balls and was caught by Abul Hasan off Farhad Reza's bowling at 121/3 in 14.4 overs.

Abul Hasan made the first breakthrough in the Dhaka's batting line at 71/1 in 8.4 overs, departing opener Mehedi Maruf who was caught by Sabbir Rahman scoring 35 off 25 balls that included three boundaries and two sixes.

The 2nd pair finished on 119/2 in 14.1 overs as Mosaddek Hossain (13) was caught and bowled by Farhad Reza.

Number-4 batsman Seekkuge Prasanna and skipper Shakib Al Hasan stayed for an unbeaten partnership of 44 in 3.5 overs in the 5th wicket that carried the team total to their final collection starting from 138/4 in 16.1 overs.

Prasanna added a quickfiring 34 off 16 balls, including two boundaries and three sixes, while all-rounder Shakib scored 18 off 12 balls with three boundaries for the side that opened the innings with bat after winning the toss.
