Chittagong: Chittagong Vikings beat Comilla Victorians by six wickets in their 7th league tussle at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Monday to move to the 4th slot in the points table of the 4th Bangladesh Premier League.

Chittagong collected six points from seven matches having three wins and four loses while Comilla managed two points from seven outings with one win and six losses. Chittagong leapfrogged Barisal Bulls by virtue of net run rate.

Chittagong chased down 183 scoring 186 for 4 in 19.2 overs, the highest successful chase in this edition BPL.

Afghan all-rounder Mohammed Nabi hammered 10 runs in the first two balls, including a boundary and an over boundary, off Mohammad Saifuddin’s last over to reach the destination.

Chittagong Vikings required eight runs in the death over when Mohammad Nabi and Jahurul Islam were on batting with 36 and 1 runs respectively.

Man of the match 'Nabi' hammered unbeaten 46 off 24 balls featuring five boundaries and two sixes in his number-5 position. Including the day's achievement, Nabi was adjudged man of the match for the 3rd time in all three wins of Chittagong.

In the 4th wicket, Nabi paired with Shoaib Malik for 64 in 6.3 overs that carried the team total to 167/4 in 18.1 overs from 103/3 in 11.4 overs before Malik was bowled out by Sohail Tanvir.

Anamul Haque scored 40 off 30 balls, including two boundaries and two over boundaries, and was also bowled out by RN ten Doeschate at 103/3 in 11.4 overs.

In the 2nd wicket, Anamul Haque stayed with skipper-cum-opener Tamim Iqbal for 62 in 7.1 overs to recover the early damage to 90/2 in 10 overs that started from 28/1 in 2.5 overs, after opening batsman Dwayne Smith’s dismissal. RN ten Doeschate bowled out Tamim to break the 2nd pair.

Shoaib Malik scored 38 off 25 balls, including five boundaries, while Tamim and Dwayne Smith added 30 and 21 runs respectively.

RN ten Doeschate claimed two wickets for 15 runs in two overs while Sohail Tanvir and Mashrafe Bin Mortaza took one wicket each for 33 and 34 runs respectively.

Earlier, Khalid Latif’s knock of 76 runs drove defending champions Comilla Victorians to put a target of 184 runs against the local side.
Batting first after winning the toss, bottom-of-table Comilla scored 183 for 3 in 20 overs spurred mainly by two partnerships, for the 2nd and 3rd wickets, of 68 and 70 respectively. Latif was the one who featured in both stands, first with Ahmed Shehzad and then Imrul Kayes.

Latif stayed with Ahmed Shehzad in the 3rd wicket to carry the team total to 167/3 in 19 overs from 97/2 in 12.1 overs, before Latif was run out by Anamul Haque off Tsakin Ahmed bowling.

The 2nd pair between Latif and Kayes started from 29/1 in 4.1 overs that was ended-up at 97/2 in 12.1 overs as Kayes was run out by Tamim Iqbal off Taskin Ahmed bowling.

Latif featured six boundaries and five over boundaries off 53 balls while Ahmed Shehzad scored unbeaten 40 off 25 balls, including five boundaries.

Kayes added 36 off 26 balls, including three boundaries and one over boundary, while opener Nazmul Hossain Shanto stayed for 17 runs.

Taskin Ahmed took one wicket for 44 runs in four overs.
