Dhaka: Rajshahi Kings moved to the 2nd Qualifier of the 4th Bangladesh Premier League with a three-wicket victory over Chittagong Vikings in the Eliminator at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Tuesday.

Rajshahi will play the Qualifier-2 against the winner of the Qualifier-1, either Shakib Al Hasan-led Dhaka Dynamites or Mahmudullah Riyad-led Khulna Titans, at the same venue at 7 pm on Wednesday.

Chittagong finished their BPL mission 4th, much to the disappointment of their fans.

Rajshahi chased down a target of 143 for 7 in 18.3 overs, spurred by skipper Darren Sammy's unbeaten quick-firing half century of 55 runs off just 27 balls.

Number-9 batsman Farhad Reza collected six runs, including one boundary, off Taskin Ahmed to draw the winning line for Rajshahi.

The day's game changer and also the man of the match, Sammy stayed till the end firing seven boundaries and two over boundaries.

Opener Nurul Hasan scored 34 off 28 balls, including two boundaries and one over boundary, and was caught by Jahurul Islam off Saqlain Sajib bowling at 55/5 in 10.1 overs.

Farhad Reza added unbeaten 19 runs off 11 balls, including three boundaries, while Sabbir Rahman (11) and Mehedi Hasan Miraz (10) were the other double figure scorers for the side.

Saqlain Sajib and Shuvashish Roy bagged two wickets each for 24 and 28 runs in four and three overs respectively.

Abdur Razzak and Mohammad Nabi took one wicket each for 17 and 30 runs delivering four and three overs respectively.

Earlier, West Indian pace bowler Kesrick Williams’ four-wicket haul helped Rajshahi restrict Chittagong to 142 runs.

Sent in to bat first, Chittagong collected the figure in 20 overs losing eight wickets, riding on the opener-cum-skipper Tamim Iqbal's half century off 51 and Chris Gayle's innings of 44 runs.

Tamim and Gayle recovered early destruction pairing for 74 in 8.2 overs in the second wicket that carried the team total to 82/2 in 10.4 overs from 8/1 in 2.2 overs, before West Indies hard hitter Gayle was caught by Farhad Reza off James Franklin bowling.

Most run getter with 476 in this edition BPL, Tamim featured six boundaries off 46 balls and was caught by Samit Patel off Kesrick Williams bowling when their team collection was 117/4 in 16.2 overs.

Chittagong went through the nightmare after Tamim's departure as they lost their four wickets --Anamul Haque, Mohammad Nabi, Abdur Razzak and Taskin Ahmed -- for five runs in a span of nine balls from 127/5 in 17.3 to 132/8 in 19 overs.

Gayle's innings of 30 balls witnessed two boundaries and five over boundaries while Shoaib Malik (14), Jahurul Islam (not out 11) and Anamul Haque (11) were the other double figure scorers for the side.

On the way to four scalps for 11 runs in four overs, Williams captured Tamim, Dwayne Smith, Razzak and Taskin with the latter three out with ducks.

Farhad Reza bagged two wickets for 26 runs in four overs while James Franklin took one for eight in one overs.
