BPL final on Friday defies predicting
Dhaka: Dhaka Dynamites will play against Rajshahi Kings in the grand finale of the 4th Bangladesh Premier League T20 at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Friday.
The final of the seven-franchise tournament will begin at 5:45 pm.
Dhaka will look forward to their 3rd BPL title victory, bagging the title in 2012 and 2013 under a previous franchise (Dhaka Gladiators), while Rajshahi will take the ground as first time finalists.
In their two meetings in the double-round robin phase of this year’s BPL, Rajshahi outplayed Dhaka by six wickets in the 1st phase and by three-wickets in the 2nd phase, with all-rounder Samit Patel was adjudged man of the match in both occasions.
Dhaka entered the four-team play-off stage as the table toppers, securing 16 points from 12 matches, with eight wins and four losses.
Rajshahi placed 4th in the table of the league phase collecting 12 points from 12 matches, having six wins and six losses, and outplayed Chittagong Vikings and Khulna Titans in the play-off stage to storm into the final.
Dhaka Dynamites are likely to field the same eleven that thrashed Khulna in the 1st Qualifier by 54 runs to confirm their final berth.
Rajshahi Kings are also likely to go with the same playing eleven that played in the 2nd Qualifier, also against Khulna, for a seven-wicket victory.
