Tigers’ 2nd group to leave for Sydney Saturday night
Dhaka: The 12-member second group of Tigers’, including Mashrafe Mortaza, Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan, will leave Dhaka for Sydney, Australia on Saturday night to join the conditioning camp there.
Bangladesh cricketers will be trained in a two-week long camp in Sydney, starting from December 11 as part of the Tigers' preparation before their away tour to New Zealand.
On Friday evening, an 11-member group of Bangladesh cricketers reached in Sydney.
During the camp the Tigers will play some T20 matches against several teams who play in Australian franchise-based Big Bash League.
Bangladesh will play a full-fledged away series against New Zealand, involving three ODI, three T20I and two Test matches, staring on December 26.
Bangladesh's limited-overs captain Mashrafe Mortaza, who will lead the second group, earlier on Friday said their upcoming tour of New Zealand offers a tough challenge for his side because they played mostly at home in the last two years.
“In the last couple of years, we played mostly at home and won many of those matches too…now it's a different challenge to play outside home. It's a challenge even for established teams to do well in New Zealand," Mashrafe said.
Bangladesh squad: Tamim Iqbal, Imrul Kayes, Mominul Haque, Mahmudullah Riyad, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Sabbir Rahman, Soumya Sarkar, Mosaddek Hossain, Nurul Hassan Sohan, Mehedi Hasan Miraz, Shuvagata Hom, Nazmul Hossain Shanto, Taijul Islam, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Shuvashish Roy, Ebadat Hossain, Tanveer Haider, Rubel Hossain, Kamrul Islam Rabbi and Mehedi Hasan Maruf.
