Cricketer Ashraful to play for World XI in Qatar
Dhaka: The youngest Test centurion and former captain of Bangladesh national cricket team Mohammad Ashraful will play for World XI against Qatar XI in the one day format National Day Cricket Cup (NDCC) at Asian Town Cricket Stadium, Qatar on Sunday (December 18).
An organisation 'Pro Event' organizing the NDCC, involving a one-day and one Twenty 20, to mark the Qatar's national day where Ashraful will take part only in the one-day game. Ashraful will leave Dhaka for Qatar on Thursday.
The 32-year old Ashraful, whose dream is to come back in national side after completing his ban on international cricket, get clearance to play domestic cricket in September last following his three years suspension, said to journalists, "Of course, I'll try to play my best there(NDCC)."
Replying to a query Ashraful said, "Since I've desired to continue my cricketing, making run is most important for me. I'll utilize opportunities, in anywhere I'll get."
Returning after around four years at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Sunday, Ashraful hammered a century of 115 off 110 runs for Red Team against Bangladesh Under-19 team in a 50-overs a side practice match, before the U19 side tour to Sri Lanka to take part in the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) U19 Asia Cup.
"I'm feeling great, playing in Mirpur after many a day's and I could not express my joyous feeling," Ashraful became emotional when expressing his happiness.
Apart from Asharaful, another Bangladeshi player pace bowler Mohammad Sharif got place in the World XI side that lead by Pakistani hard hitter Shahid Afridi, comprises 22-cricketers from across the world.
