Bangladesh blow away Singapore

Dhaka: It took only five overs to reach the target as Bangladesh Under-19 team blew away lowly Singapore under-19 team to record an overwhelming seven-wicket victory over Singapore in the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup held on Friday at the Galle International Stadium in Sri Lanka.

Chasing a winning target of 71 runs, the Junior Tigers stormed into destination in just five overs for the loss of three wickets. 

Singapore were bundled out for 70 runs in 25.5 overs after they were put to bat first by Bangladesh. Singapore opener Rohan Rangarajan (23) was the only batsman who, able to reach the double figure.

Skipper Saif Hasan cracked 33 off 11 balls that studded four sixes and two fours while Mohammad Rakib added an unbeaten 13 off 5 balls laced with three boundaries. 

Nayeem Hasan Abdul Halim were the most successful bowlers for Bangladesh side as they both shared three wickets conceding 16 and 21 runs while Shakhawat Hossain supported him with two wickets for 18 runs. 

Bangladesh will play their next match against Pakistan in Sunday (December 18) at the same venue .

Earlier, Bangladesh got off to a winning start in the tournament as they beat Afghanistan by four wickets.
