Indian former national team cricketer Irfan Pathan and his wife Safa Baig were blessed with a baby boy on Monday evening at a private hospital at Vadodara city in Gujurat.

The all-rounder, who captained the Baroda Ranji team this season, had got married on 4 February in Saudi Arabia. He had later organized a lavish reception party at the Lakshmi Vilas Palace, reports Times of India.

His marriage, though, was a private affair with only family members and close friends attending it.

‘I can’t describe this feeling in words. I had been eagerly looking forward to this day for the last few months and I wanted to be around Safa when I become a father. I have been blessed with a healthy child and everyone at home is delighted with the latest addition to our family,’ Times of India quotes Irfan.

Both mother and child are doing fine. ‘I feel confident that I will be a good father,’ he said.
