Bangladesh secured their final berth in the Bangabandhu Gold Cup beating Thailand 1-0 in the second semifinals at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Friday.

Bangladesh will face Malaysia in the final on Sunday 5:00pm at the same venue.

With the win today, Bangladesh has reached the final in an international tournament after 16 years.

Bangladesh got their first chance to take lead while winger Zahid Hossain chipped the ball in the middle of the box in the 20th minute of the game but Hemanta Vincent and Emily both missed the line.

Forward Sohel Rana tapped a floating ball in the 23rd minute, but the ball defelcted off the feet of a Thailand defender.

Bangladesh scored the winning goal after skipper Mamunul Islam curved a corner from the right hand flag in the 39th minute and unmarked Nasiruddin Chowdhury tapped the ball in the near post (1-0).

Mamunul Islam saw his 20 yarder go wide off the side post in the 56th minute.

Bangladesh survived a scare in the 65th minute as skipper Parmpak Pakron hit the crosspiece from the edge of the box.
