Distressed Tigers desperate to avoid T20 series whitewash

Dhaka: Bangladesh must fight back to avoid a clean sweep in the three-match T20I series when the touring side will face New Zealand in the 3rd match at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganu on Sunday.

The last match of the T20I series will begin at 8:00am (Bangladesh time).

The Blackcaps will take the ground to maintain the all win record against the Tigers in the shortest format of cricket out of their 7th meet, and also eying another 3-0 victory, following a 3-0 win in the ODI series in December last.

Bangladesh can bring changes resting their frontline players, including Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan, and instilling some freshness into the eleven. To get a relief from his worst series as the captain, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza would also like to sign off.

Taskin Ahmed would not be risked in this dead rubber as he got a call for the Test. Shuvagata Hom and Taijul Islam have good chances for their first match of the tour, if the senior players are rested.

New Zealand’s uncapped wicketkeeper batsman Tom Blundell has been called up to join the squad and could be looking at a debut in international cricket replacing Luke Ronchi who injured his groin during 2nd T20I on Friday.

George Worker might get to play for the side, first time over a year.

Bangladesh conceded a 47-run defeat in the 2nd T20I, starting their series campaign with a six-wicket loss.

Bangladesh eleven (probable): Tamim Iqbal, Imrul Kayes, Sabbir Rahman, Shakib Al Hasan, Mahmudullah Riyad, Soumya Sarkar, Mosaddek Hossain, Nurul Hasan,  Mashrafe Bin Mortaza (captain), Rubel Hossain and Mustafizur Rahman.

New Zealand eleven (probable): Kane Williamson (captain), George Worker, Colin Munro, Corey Anderson, Tom Bruce, Colin de Grandhomme/ James Neesham, Tom Blundell, Mitchell Santner, Matt Henry/ Ben Wheeler, Ish Sodhi and Trent Boult/ Lockie Ferguson.
