Dhaka: There was finally something for Tigers to smile as their dashing left handed opener Tamim Iqbal was declared fit and would be consider to play in the first Test against New Zealand that begins on Thursday at the Basin Reserve in Wellington. 

Finally lady luck smile in Bangladesh favour as southpaw opener Tamim underwent for a scan on his injured left-thumb in the morning and the report turned out to be positive as Tamim was diagnosed to have no fracture, which meant that if selectors want he can be drafted in the first eleven.

But Tamim told the local media on Wednesday that he still feels the pain and the swelling is still there. "I'm playing. I'm feeling a bit of pain but that's okay," Tamim told this reporter while he was heading for a net session at Basin Reserve. 

National Selectors have some sigh of relief as Tamim was declared fit as he along with Imrul Kayes, who has also recovered from a knee bruise that he sustained in the third T20I at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui, may be open the innings with Tamim. 

Mominul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah Riyad, Shakib Al Hasan and Sabbir Rahman will form the rest of the batting line-up. Bangladesh will field three pacers on the green top of the windy venue of Wellington. 

Taskin and Subhasis Roy are set to make Test debuts. The place for the third seamer will be decided between Rubel Hossain, who bowled impressively in the T20Is and Kamrul Islam Rabbi.

There is a strong possibility to Rubel might get the nod ahead of Rabbi. Mehedi Hasan Miraz is set to play as the lone spinner with Shakib there to share the burden. Both of them played their part admirably in Bangladesh's magnificent victory against England in Dhaka two months ago.
