Perth: Australia beat Pakistan by seven wickets in their one-day international in Perth on Thursday.

Pakistan made 263 for seven after being sent in to bat and Australia replied with 265 for three from 45 overs, with captain Steven Smith unbeaten on 108.

Pakistani bowlers dismissed openers David Warner and Khawaja early on to put the pressure on Australia, who are chasing Pakistan's target of 264 runs.

Pakistan finished on 263-7 after the 50 overs in the third One Day International, on Thursday.

A much-needed knock of 84 runs by Babar Azam propelled Pakistan score more than 200 runs after being put to bat first by Australian captain Steven Smith, who won the toss.

Babr Azam fell just 16 runs short of his century when he was dismissed by Hazlewood after getting caught by Handscomb. Pakistani batsmen Sharjeel Khan and Babar Azam scored much-needed fifties as the tourists looked to post a big total on the scoreboard for the Aussies to chase.

Earlier, after Mohammad Hafeez fell cheaply at 4, it was up to Babar Azam and Sharjeel Khan to put up a respectable stand, which they did before Sharjeel departed. But not after scoring a quick-paced fifty.

Hazlewood was the pick of the bowlers for Australia, as he gave away only 32 runs from his 10 overs and managed to pick up three Pakistani wickets. Head chipped in with two wickets and also took a tremendous catch while PJ Cummins and B Stanlake took one wicket each to restrict Pakistan to 263-7 after 50 overs.

Australia holds a 2-1 lead in the five match series.
