Win, draw, defeat in a day !
Dhaka: Bangladesh Under-16 Women’s football team tasted one win, one draw and a loss against their rivals on the first day of the J Green Sakai Ladies' Festival held at Dream Camp of J Green Sakai Academy, city Osaka Japan on Saturday.
In the 40-minute format matches, Bangladesh girls’ started the campaign playing a draw against AC Imabari 0-0, conceded a 0-2 defeat against Cerezo Osaka while secured 2-1 victory against Naguya Ladies Team in the 3rd match.
In their last Group-D match, Bangladesh will take on Amagasaki Ladies on Sunday.
In the day’s first match, Bangladeshi goalkeeper Mahmuda saved the side in the first half twice from crucial attacks which greatly helped the girls hold AC Imabari.
Shamsunnahar failed to convert a penalty opportunity in the 19th minute as her shot went out hitting the cross bar. Sanjida, Nila, Anai Mogini and goalkeeper Ruksana performed effectively in the 2nd half of the match.
In the 2nd match, Bangladesh defended their opponent Cerezo Osaka attacks quite well, including a one on target and five off-target shots, to end the first half goalless.
Cerezo took the lead over Bangladesh in 28th minute utilisng a free kick opportunity, 1-0. Just after two minutes, the Japanese girls doubled the margin getting the ball to a forward in the close range, 2-0.
However, Japanese U15 Girls Championship holders Cerezo Osaka is a professional club based in the port city of Osaka where five Japanese national team players are playing for this club.
Sirat Jahan Shopna’s two goals against Naguya Ladies in the third match sealed the first victory in the 20-team tournament for Bangladesh.
Naguya Ladies took the lead against Bangladesh in the very 5th minute and dominated the first half by 1-0 goal.
Bangladesh surged with some tactical changes in the 2nd half which became functional for the victory.
Shopna managed to go around the goalkeeper and scored the first goal for the team in an empty net in the 24th minute to level the margin, 1-1.
Shopna sealed the victory scoring her 2nd one in the 32nd minute taking shot from six yards distance was a rebounded off Naguya Ladies goalkeeper who was trying to clear the Bangladesh captain Krishna Rani Sarkar attempt, 2-1.
