Incredible double century by Bangladesh cricketer Azmir
Dhaka: International or domestic, no Bangladeshi player has scored double century in limited over cricket match. For the first time, young Bangladeshi cricketer Azmir Ahmed has done the incredible job as he reached the milestone of a double-century in Dhaka’s First Class Cricket League.
Opener Azmir of Agranee Bank Krira Chakra played an innings of 222 runs against Udayachal Club at BKSP on Tuesday.
Azmir scored 222 runs from 168 balls with 16 fours and sixes. Agranee Bank scored a 383-run innings.
There are six double centuries in limited overs international cricket till now. Indian legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar was the first cricketer to hit the record. In 2010, he played the historic innings of a ‘first double century ever’ against South Africa.
Following the path, now Rahit Sharma has two double centuries. Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag, West Indies’ Chris Gayle, and New Zealand cricketer Martin Guptill have one double century to their credit.
