Chittagong: Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Ltd made the early exit from the 2nd edition of the Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup despite securing 2-1 goals victory against Shaheen Asmayee FC of Afghanistan in their last Group B match at MA Aziz Stadium on Friday.

Mohammedan finished with Manang Marshyangdi of Nepal in the four-team group campaign collecting identical four points each, but as per the bylaws, the winner of the head-to-head fight advanced to the semis and Manang obtained the fruit as they beat Mohammedan by 2-0 goals in the first match.

In the day’s match, Mohammedan SC’s Gambian forward Dawda Ceesay scored both goals for the side in the 32nd and 69th minutes while Shaheen Asmayee’s forward Amiruddin Sharifi reduced the gap in the 88th minute converting a spot kick.

Chittagong Abahani earlier confirmed their semifinal berth emerging Group champions collecting unbeaten five points from three matches. They will face Group A runners-up Pocheon Citizen Football Club of South Korea in the 2nd semifinal at the same venue on Monday.

In the 1st semifinal, Manang Marshyangdi will face Group A champions TC Sports Club of the Maldives at the same venue on Sunday.
