If the playing XI is chosen accordingly, Bangladesh cricket is streaming into a new era! It is a series against Sri Lanka. How can we term it as a new era? Why not? Two M’s are playing together for the first time in the national team. Bangladesh is ready with a new line-up for the Galle Test. The two M’s are making the lineup different from all the previous squad.

Mustafiz and Miraz. The two sensations are now a big advertisement for Bangladesh cricket. Both of them bagged ESPNCricinfo Best Debutant of the Year in 2016 and 2017 respectively.

Mustafizur Rahman entered the stage when Bangladesh defeated the Team India in ODI series in 2015. On the other hand, Mehedi Hasan Miraz showed an unbelievable performance in his debut test against England. The duo had played together in U-19 team, but not in the national team. That is why the Galle Test beginning from Tuesday has made a hype among the Tigers’ fans. Just think, Mustafiz is delivering the cutter from one end and Miraz is destroying the stamps with his magical off breaks from the other end. That would surely be a treat to watch. Now it is time to enjoy the two M’s magic simultaneously at the Galle International Stadium.

Undoubtedly, these two M’s are going be crucial for Bangladesh in the series.

Now let’s look back into the history for some time. What about the great two W’s? In the ’90s, the two W’s made the test cricket gorgeous and eventful. The bouncers, inswing, outswing, yorker — these were seen on regular basis on pitch thanks to Pakistan’s Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis. The two W’s have great pace and variation in their bowling that made Pakistan team rely on the duo to become a stronger team at that time.

The same can be said about the great two C’s — Curtly Ambrose and Courtney Walsh — the giants from West Indies. These West Indian bowling couple delivered numerous terrific spells destroying the opponent batting order. They have garnered an everlasting place in the hall of fame of test cricket.

Another two W’s were the beautiful part of the test cricket. They knocked tremendous tons in many matches. Not only as batsmen, they used to contribute to their team as bowlers too. The famous twin brothers Mark Waugh and Steve Waugh had been indispensable part of the Australian team for many years. They on many occasions took responsibility on their shoulders, played in cool head and get the result in Australia’s favour.

Can two M’s do the same for Bangladesh team in the years to come? Today can be the beginning of a new era for Bangladesh cricket.
