Tigers to leave for England early Thursday

Bangladesh Cricket Team will leave for England early Thursday for playing a tri-nation series in Ireland and the ICC Champions Trophy in England.

The Tigers will depart from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport by a flight of Emirates Airlines at 1:00am and are expected to reach Gatwick Airport in London on Thursday morning, reports UNB.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh T20I captain all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman who are now playing for franchised teams Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) will join the squad in England on May 5.

The Tigers will start their training camp there with a three-day practice session at Brighton, Hilton Metropole starting on April 28.

They will play two friendly one-day matches against Duke of Norfolk XI and Sussex XI Hove on May 1 and 7 at two local venues in Brighton as part of their preparations ahead of the Ireland Tri-Nation Series.

Bangladesh are scheduled to reach Belfast in Ireland on May 7 completing their training camp in England and will play one warm-up match against a local selection at Belfast on May 10.

The Tigers will face hosts Ireland twice in the tri-nation series on May 12 and 19 at Malahide, Dublin. In the remaining two matches of the series, they will play New Zealand on May 17 and 24 at Clontarf Cricket Club Ground in Dublin.

Bangladesh will leave Dublin on May 25 for England to take part in the 8th edition of the eight-nation ICC Champions Trophy.

Placed in the Group A, the Tigers will play against hosts England in the tournament opener on June 1 at Kennington Oval, London while face Australia in the 2nd match at the same venue on June 5. They will wrap up their group campaign playing New Zealand at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff on June 9.

The Group B comprises of defending champions India, Pakistan, South Africa and Sri Lanka.

On completion of the group campaign, top two teams from each group will qualify for the semifinals, scheduled to be held on June 14 and 15 at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff and Edgbaston, Birmingham respectively.

The final of the tournament will be held at Kennington Oval, London on June 18.
