Dhaka: Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chairman Nazmul Hasan Papon on Friday said Australia cricket team will visit Bangladesh in August to play the pre-scheduled two-match Test series, which was postponed on October 2015 due to security concerns.

The BCB chief came up with the announcement while talking to journalists after returning from ICC meeting in Dubai.

BCB President said, "Cricket Australia (CA) chairman David Peever confirmed me that they are going to send the team to Bangladesh in August as per the schedule for the two-match Test series."

David Peever also expressed his interest to visit Bangladesh with his wife during that tour, said BCB president, adding "He himself will come to pay a visit to Bangladesh with his wife during that time."

In early April, Australia and Bangladesh were at odds tentatively over the timing and format of the tour finally might see the lights after this confirmation.

Australia have not played in Bangladesh since Ricky Ponting's team toured here in 2006 and, outside major tournaments.

The two nations have played just two ODI series against each other in Darwin (2008) and Dhaka (2011) since then.
