Legends of Rupganj thrash Partex

Dhaka: Legends of Rupganj earned a five-wicket victory over lowly Partex Sporting Club in the Walton Dhaka Metropolis Premier Division Cricket League at the Khan Shabeb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah on Saturday.

After the day's victory, three teams--Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club, Dhaka Mohammedan SC and Legends of Rupganj--have secured 12 points each to share 5th to 7th place in the 12-team league, but Sheikh Jamal DC and Mohammedan SC played 10 matches against Legends of Rupganj's 11 matches.

Partex SC batted first after winning the toss and scored a moderate 272 runs for 9 in stipulated 50 overs with Indian batsman Jatin S Saxena quick-firing 91 runs off just 50 balls, featuring eleven fours and five sixes.

Sajjad Hossain (50), Irfan Sukkur (34), Rakin Ahmed (25) and Sajjadul Haque (24) were the other main contributors for Partex SC.

National coloured pacer Syed Rasel grabbed four wickets for 38 runs while Mosharraf Hossain bagged three wickets for 54 runs.

Chasing a target of 273 runs, Legends of Rupganj reached their ultimate goal scoring 277 runs for the loss of five wickets in 49.2 overs, featuring 182 runs in the 3rd wicket stand by Raza Ali Dar and Mohammad Hasan.

After the departure of two openers-Pinak Ghosh (3) and Hasanuzzaman (19) -for 22 runs in 4.1 overs, one down Pakistani batsman Raza Ali Dar hammered run-a-ball 99 hitting 10 fours and a six and was adjudged man of the match while number four Mohammad Hasan scored 93-ball 70 runs, including three fours and one six.

Besides, Naeem Islam (not out 36), Mosharraf Hossain (22) and Mohammad Sharif (14) were the other major scorers for Legends of Rupganj.

Mamun Hossain claimed two wickets for 42 runs.
