Dhaka: Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club managed one wicket victory against Mohammedan Sporting Club in the 11th round match of the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPDCL) at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan Ground 3 in Savar on Sunday.

On their way to 343 for 9 in 49.4 overs, Sheikh Jamal batters denied Mohammedan's two centuries of 144 and 110 runs hammered by Shamsur Rahman and skipper Rony Talukdar.

Sohag Gazi (89 off 64b; 8x4; 3x6), Prashant Chopra (86 off 60b; 10x4; 5x6) and Tanbir Hayder (77 off 72b; 6x4; 1x6) were the notable scorers for the winners.

Mohammad Azim captured four wickets for 70 runs while Enamul Haque Jr and Taijul Islam took two wickets each for 61 and 76 runs respectively.

Sent to bat first, Mohammedan post a big total of 339 for 5 in 50 overs where man of the match Shamsur and Rony shared 173 in 29.3 overs in the 2nd stand.

Opener Shamsur fired seven boundaries and seven over boundaries off 152 balls while Rony played an innings of 99 balls, including 10 boundaries and three overs boundaries.

Abdullah Al Mamun and Elias Sunny took two wickets each for 31 and 66 runs respectively.

With this win, Sk Jamal placed 5th in the table collecting 14 points from 11 rounds, having seven wins and four losses.

Despite the day's loss, Mohammedan survived for the super-six stage battles -- by virtue of head to head victory against Legends of Rupganj (placed 7th) -- as the bottom 6th team after the 1st phase of the 12-team league. Mohammedan collected 12 points from 11 games with six wins and five losses.
