Prime Doleshwar beat Sheikh Jamal

Dhaka: Prime Doleshwar SC earned a 40-run victory over Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club under D/L method in their opening super league match of the Walton Dhaka Premier Division Cricket at BKSP ground-3 in Savar on Wednesday.

Batting first, Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club scored a comfortable 274 for 7 in a reduced 46 over a-side match, featuring a century by opener Imtiaz Hossain.

In the 2nd wicket stand, Imtiaz paring with Shahriar Nafees contributed 176 runs in 32.1 overs before he was caught by Ziaur Rahman off Tanbir Hayder delivery, leaving team total 200 for 2 in 35.2 overs.

Finally, Imtiaz Hossain hammered a century scoring 128 runs off 109 balls with 17 boundaries and four over boundaries to be adjudged man of the match.

Shahriar Nafees fired 10 boundaries off 101 balls to score 67 runs while Sharifullah and Marshall Ayub added 35 and 19 runs respectively.

Tanbir Hayder bagged two wickets for 58 runs while Shahadat Hossain, Sohag Gazi and Elias Sunny took one wicket each.

Chasing a target of 292 runs in 46 overs under D/L method, Sheikh Jamal DC were all out for 251 runs in 42.2 overs with Tanbir Hayder making 46, Mahbubul Karim 44, Indian P Chopra 43 and Abdullah Al Mamun 28 runs.

De Silva, Arafat Sunny, Farhad Reza and Habibur Rahman claimed two wickets each conceding 38, 41, 55 and 55 runs respectively.

In the day's another match at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah, table topper Gazi Group Cricketers suffered a seven-run defeat against 6th ranked Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club.

Batting first, Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club piled up a huge 324 for 8 in quota 50 featuring 148 in 24.2 overs in the 2nd wicket stand by Rony Talukdar and Shamsur Rahman.

Rony Talukdar hammered 92 runs off 95 balls, including eight boundaries and two over boundaries, before he was stumped by Anamul Haque, off a Mahedi Hasan delivery when scoreboard showing 206/4 in 35.1 overs. Later, Rony was adjudged man of the match.

Shamsur Rahman scored 74 off 85 balls, including one boundary and five over boundaries, before he was bowled by Mohammad Shahzada.

Nazmul Hossain Milon(47 off 33b; 2x4; 3x6), Bipul Sharma (28 off 31b; 1x4; 2x6) and Shykat Ali (27 off 17b; 4x4; 1x6) were the other main scorers for the Mohammedan.

Mohammad Shahzada and Abu Hyder bagged two wickets each conceding 52 and 78 runs respectively. Mahedi Hasan, Parvez Rasool and Abdul Halim took one wicket each.

In reply, Gazi Group Cricketers were forced to fold their innings at 317 for 8 in stipulated 50 overs with opener Munim Shahriar contributing 88 runs off just 43 balls with help of eleven boundaries.

Besides, Suhrawady Shuvo (not out 57), Parvez Rasool (40), Anamul Haque (36), Jahurul Islam (31) and Mehedy Hassan (27) were the other main scorers for Gazi Group Cricketers.

Kamrul Islam Rabbi, Bipul Sharma and Sajedul Islam captured two wickets each giving away 59, 60 and 68 runs respectively.
