Dhaka: The 5th version of the franchise-based Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) will begin on November 4 next.

The inaugural function of the entertaining T20 Cricket League is likely to be held on November 2 and the players' draft formalities of the league will be held September 16.

Chairman of the BPL Governing Body Afzalur Rahman Sinha disclosed this at a press conference at the conference hall of Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Thursday.

BPL Member Secretary Ismail Haider Mallick, BCB Director Lokman Hossain Bhuiyan and BCB CEO Nizam Uddin Chowdhury Sujon were also present on the occasion.

The BPL Chairman said presently eight teams registered to play the ensuing BPL but the number of participating teams may be reduced if any aspirant team fails to submit its financial solvency and required documents.

In the last BPL, four foreign cricketers were entitled to play for a team in a match out of eleven, but the organisers are actively considering increasing the foreign players' quota to five from four this time, he said.
