Dhaka: World number one all-rounder in all three formats of cricket Shakib Al Hasan will need another 32 runs to reach the 5000-run mark in the ODI.

Shakib has an opportunity to enter the elite club when Bangladesh will play the 2nd semifinal of the 8th ICC Champions Trophy, likely against defending champions India, at Edgbaston in Birmingham on Thursday (June 15).

His fans expect he will score the required runs in the match to be the 2nd highest ODI scorer for Bangladesh after Tamim Iqbal, who scored 5673 runs in his 172-ODI career.

Shakib will be the world's 5th all-rounder to reach the landmark after Sanath Jayasuriya of Sri Lanka (13430 runs in 445 ODIs), Jacques Kallis of South Africa (11579 runs in 328 ODIs), Shahid Afridi of Pakistan (8064 runs in 398 ODIs) and another Pakistani all-rounder Abdul Razzaq (5080 runs in 265 ODIs).

Making his ODI debut for Bangladesh against Zimbabwe at Harare in August 2006, Shakib has so far played 176 ODIs to score 4968 runs, including seven centuries and 34 half centuries, at an average of 34.98.

With ball, he captured 224 wickets conceding 6552 runs at an average of 29.25 runs.

Bangladesh team, which reached Edgbaston on Sunday to play their first-ever and dream semifinal of the Champions trophy, will make their practices on Tuesday and Wednesday after a recess on Monday.
