It’s do or die now: Shakib

Dhaka: After a tantalising series-levelling seven-wicket win in Mirpur on Sunday, team Mashrafi headed to Chittagong with a hope of adding South Africa to the list of high profile teams subjected to ODI series defeats in Bangladesh.

The Tigers are ready to offer their best efforts to win the series today (15 July). The match begins at 3:00pm (local time), 9:00 GMT, at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong.

Tigers seem regain their tilted confident after losing the T-20 series and the first ODI as they triumphantly levelled the series.

Several Bangladesh players shared their thoughts with their fans on Facebook.

Bangladesh team’s ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan said, ‘Series win is now within reach and we want to snatch away that victory! It’s do or die now.’

Wicketkeeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim said, ‘Preparations for the ‘final’ is completed and everything is well sorted out for the big game!’

Chittagong is the hometown of opener Tamim Iqbal. With 391, Tamim has scored the most number of runs in ODIs on this ground.

‘Hathurusingha and co will hope that the left-hander rediscovers his form in his hometown in a crucial match against a very strong side to complete a series victory’, posted on Tamim’s Facebook.

It is likely that Bangladesh will continue with the same team that helped them draw level in the series. There is a growing rise of demand from Tigers’ fans to include Anamul Haque in the playing eleven. Anamul suffered a total separation of his right shoulder while fielding in a World Cup match that made him out of the squad for the last two series at home. If Anamul is back, whom will he replace? Litton Das may have to make room for Anamul.

The return of all-rounder Mahmudullah from injury has added meat to the line-up. Besides, Mahmudullah adds a crucial bowling option to the side. The bowling sports a fairly settled look to it and is enhanced by young Mustafizur Rahman’s continued success.

South Africa are unlikely to change the composition of their side just because of one defeat.
