Dhaka: Besides his fighting spirit and zeal for cricket, Bangladesh national cricket team’s captain in ODI format Mashrafe Bin Mortaza is known for his straight forward opinions, and his reverent attitude towards the freedom fighters of the nation. Mashrafe once again expressed his gratitude towards the freedom fighters through the social media.

‘"The heroes are our freedom fighters. We don’t sacrifice anything for the cause of the nation. The freedom fighters did’", wrote the ace paceman of Bangladesh team on his Facebook page on Friday.

‘"Let me shatter some illusions today. We are entertainers. We are not heroes."

‘"Don’t misunderstand me, cricket is not everything. What we try to do is to bring happiness to our nation,’" Mashrafe added.

His statement has been praised by Facebook users.

Bangladesh Kallyan Party chairman Major General Syed Muhammad Ibrahim Bir Protik thanked ‘Mash’ for his statement.

‘“Let me also keep it on record that YOU R OUR SUNNY SHINING SONS, the whole nation is proud of you’”, Syed Muhammad Ibrahim commented.

Bangladesh recently clinched a first bilateral 2-1 series win over South Africa, and a fourth successive series triumph at home.
