Gurgaon: At least 10 people, including policemen, were injured as clashes erupted between people and police in Palwal district at Haryana in India on Thursday after villagers has stopped a truck allegedly carrying cow’s meat.

‘It was a clash between pro-cow volunteers and police. It was not any communal clash,’ RS Sangwan, deputy director of public relations (National Capital Region), Haryana, told IANS.

However, Palwal’s Superintendent of Police Rajesh Duggal did not responded to calls made by IANS.

A police officer said six policeman and four villagers were injured in the clash and local people beat up the co-driver even as driver managed to flee.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar told the media in Mewat district, about 90km from Gurgaon, that a probe was launched into the incident.
