It is not every day you are greeted by a cow on the roof of your house. Especially, a life-sized fibreglass version of one, reports metro.co.uk.

So, it is no wonder this guy was left baffled after returning home from holiday to the bizarre surprise on his roof.

Ally Logan, a well-known farming auctioneer with Caledonian Marts, says he has no idea why somebody left him the giant model on top of his cottage but he is determined to get to the bottom of it.

The 56-year-old said that though he has a few suspects in mind, he wants witnesses to come forward.

He told the Observer: ‘We couldn’t believe it. You don’t expect to return from your holidays to find a cow on your roof.

‘Nobody in the village has owned up to doing it yet but there are a few people I think it might be. They’ll come back looking for their cow eventually and then we’ll know.

‘I’ve heard that one day it was in our paddock – in amongst the lambs – and the next it was up on the roof.’

It’s not the first time Ally, who lives in the house with his wife Carole and two daughters, has encountered a fibreglass cow.

He hit headlines in 2006 when he sold model creature ‘Salty the Saltire’ to former Hearts owner Vladimir Romanov for a British record of £15,000.

Ally said: ‘I’ve sold fibreglass cows before but they have always been up on all fours. This one is sitting down. I’ve never seen it before which makes it all the more bizarre.’

He added that despite the mystery, the whole thing is a ‘good laugh’ and that he’s glad he doesn’t have to milk the cow in the morning.
