Texas, United States: A man had a narrow escape after a car plunged seven floors off the side of a parking garage and slammed into the street below in United States’ Texas.

A clip released last week by the Austin Police Department of the July 13 incident shows William Burch’s Chevrolet Tahoe nearly missing being smashed under a BMW that fell on the ground on its front two wheels, before bouncing off the Tahoe and flipping over on its top, reports Associated Press.

‘My window was down and I heard something really loud and abnormal so I just started driving forward and the vehicle landed on the backside of the Tahoe,’ Burch told Fox 7 Austin.

Burch could have been fatally injured by the direct hit from the car flying down seven stories had the Chevrolet not edged forward.

According to a Daily Mail report, the woman driving the BMW mistook the gas pedal for brakes and crashed through the parking garage barriers. She suffered serious injuries from the crash.

‘She was upside down. They had to pull her out from her seat belt and her head was bloody and they pulled her off to the side under the awning,’ Burch told the Daily Mail.

According to reports, this isn’t the first time an incident like this has happened in the garage. In September 2016, another vehicle went over the garage but the driver escaped as it dangled by safety wires attached to the garage.

The garage company, Premiere Parking, released a statement after the July incident.

‘We regret the unfortunate accident that happened today in our garage and are thankful that no lives were lost ... We will work to ensure the safety of our parking guests,’ the statement said.
