Fresh blast, gunshots heard inside Indian air base
After more than 13 hours of the deadly attack at Pathankot air base in India on Saturday, fresh blast suspected to be that of a grenade was heard inside the air base at about 9:00am on Sunday, reported several Indian media.
‘Armoured vehicles and commandos have been rushed to the area with security forces resuming their combing operation in and around the air base’, reported Zee News.
‘Meanwhile, an eight-member team of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has reached Pathankot in Punjab to take over the probe into the attack’, reported the Times of India.
‘Following a pitched battle through the day, backed by attack helicopters and drones, it was believed that the security forces had finally taken control of the compound.
‘However, a suspected grenade blast was heard on Sunday morning.’
‘At least three security personnel and four militants have been killed in the 15-hour long gun battle. One suicide attacker is still believed to be hold up inside the air base.’
