When a plane suddenly loses altitude, the obvious course of action is to go into a brace position and wear an oxygen mask to ensure one’s own safety. These instructions are demonstrated by the crew on every flight before takeoff, reports Khaleej Times.

But this recently-engaged couple decided to do something else before attending to their own safety.

According to the Mirror, a man proposed to his girlfriend on board a plummeting plane. Passengers were screaming in terror around them as he popped the question to his girlfriend. The unrealistic proposal happened on an AirAsia flight from Australia to Bali.

The man, who was identified as UK lawyer Chris Jeanes, had planned to propose to his girlfriend Casey Kinchella during their stay in Bali. But with the plane they were in falling 20,000 feet from the sky in just nine minutes, he decided that it was now or never. Jeanes asked Kinchella to marry him after the oxygen masks have been deployed. The woman said yes, and the plane also managed to return to the airport and land safely—talk about a happy ending.

The budget airline said in a statement the pilot turned back ‘following a technical issue to ensure the safety of passengers’.
