Obama used 'raw onion' to cry for gun victims
Washington: A Fox News contributor Andrea Tantaros suggested US President Obama used raw onions to fake tears while he was talking about school shootings.
Barack Obama was seen wiping away tears as he talked about about the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in 2012, when 20 children and six adult staff members were fatally shot.
‘If he really cared about an issue, especially like Chicago in his hometown, and it was plausible, he’d be doing something very different than he’s doing, and he would have spoken out a long time ago,’ Tantaros said.
‘He’s almost at the end of his term, and you haven’t heard him go to Chicago and really speak out about this issue, and he’s uniquely poised to do so really. But everything he’s doing won’t solve the problem.’
‘So, I would check that podium for like a raw onion. It’s not really believable. We are in awards season.’ She quipped.
Co-host Melissa Francis described Mr Obama’s apparent show of emotion as ‘bad political theatre’. Both hosts were suspended from the channels for two weeks, reports The Independent.
While unveiling his plans to curb gun violence, US President Barack Obama had shed tears saying that the country will have to stop this arms race and no excuse will work.
‘Every time I think about those kids, it gets me mad,’ the president said, wiping away tears as he pleaded for citizens and lawmakers to be more resolute in preventing gun violence.
‘The gun lobby may be holding Congress hostage right now but they can’t hold America hostage,’ Obama had said.
