US police nabs two over beating Bangladeshi man
Two teens were arrested on Friday for beating a Bangladeshi man in New York on 16 January.
Mujibur Rahman, believed to be 43, was beaten by two teens screaming about ISIS when he walked his 9-year-old niece from school earlier this month, reports the United News of Bangladesh quoting New York Daily News.
Cops arrested a 14-year-old and a 15-year-old for the attack after the younger boy’s mother heard the boys bragging to their friends about the hate crime, a police source said.
The alarmed mom turned her son into the 43rd Precinct, where he gave up his 15-year-old partner, who was then nabbed at his school Friday morning, officials said.
The suspects — whose names were not released because of their ages — were charged with misdemeanor assault and harassment as a hate crime. The older teen faces a list of other charges, including acting in a manner injurious to a child.
Mujibur Rahman was wearing traditional South Asian clothing when he was attacked in front of his horrified 9-year-old niece in Parkchester. Shouting ‘ISIS! ISIS!’ they allegedly punched the Bangladeshi immigrant until he collapsed, then kicked him.
