Dhaka: The Civil Aviation Authority, Bangladesh (Caab) has sent two of its officials to Nepal to assist the Nepalese probe body looking into the US-Bangla Airlines aircraft crash at the Tribhuvan International Airport in the capital of Himalayan country Nepal on Monday.

Caab public relations officer Mahbubur Rahman disclosed this while talking to reporters on Monday night.

Earlier, Caab Chairman Air Vice Marshal M Naim Hassan said the probe body members would soon flight to Kathmandu to start their work, reports the UNB.

Describing the incident as a tragic one, Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister AKM Shajahan Kamal said the reason behind the crash will be unearthed through investigation.

He also said the injured Bangladeshis and the bodies of those killed in the incident will be brought home as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, Md Kamrul Islam, General Manager, Marketing Support and PR of US-Bangla Airlines, said traffic control miss communication might be the reason behind the crash but nothing can be said certainly before proper investigation.

He also said a special flight of their airlines carrying the victims’ relatives will fly to Kathmandu by 8am and 9am on Tuesday.

Mentioning that the airplane had insurance coverage, Disaster Management and Relief Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya urged the civil aviation minister to take steps to bring home the injured and the bodies of the Bangladeshi nationals.

At least 50 people died as the aircraft, which was carrying 67 passengers - 32 from Bangladesh, 33 from Nepal and one each from China and the Maldives, crashed in Nepal.

There were four crewmembers on board.
