Kolkata: A West Bengal court on Thursday awarded death penalty to 11 people convicted of murdering a woman over a land dispute in Nadia district.

The Nadia district court sentenced to death the 11 people who had shot dead Aparna Bag during her attempt to prevent them from grabbing land in Joyghata panchayat in Krishnagunge on November 23, 2014.

While Bag was killed, two other women and a minor had sustained bullet injuries.

The prosecution had charge-sheeted 12 people in the case, with one of them still absconding.
