The alleged gang leader accused of repeatedly beating and raping a teenage girl in Yorkshire, UK, is believed to have fled to Bangladesh before his sentence, reported metro.co.uk.

‘Arif Chowdhury, aged 20, allegedly left for Bangladesh during the investigation after he was arrested in 2012 for raping the schoolgirl, Bradford crown court heard last year.’

‘A jury heard how Chowdhury first raped the girl, who cannot be named, behind a church when he was 15.

He had known her since she was 13 after persuading her to do drug drop offs in Keighley.’

‘The girl had tried to stop helping Chowdhury after he racially abused her, subjected her to regular beatings and made her have sex with other men.’

‘He allegedly brought her to an underground car park to meet four of his friends before they raped her.’

‘Two brothers Sufyan and Bilal Ziarab, both 22, were convicted of two counts of rape along with Yasser Kabir, 25, and his 23-year-old half-brother Tauqeer Hussain.

Taxi driver Mohammed Akram also admitted to having sex with the girl.’

‘Five other men were found guilty of raping the schoolgirl on one afternoon in 2012.’

‘Israr Ali, 19, was also found guilty of rape and another man pleaded guilty to five counts of rape on the day the trial was about to start.’

Speaking of the men’s attitude during the proceedings, Judge, Justice Thomas QC, said: ‘In 40 years of practice, I have never seen a dock that has been as insolent and disrespectful as this one.’

‘The men are due to be sentenced on Monday.'
