Australia to help BD resolve Rohingya crisis, Turnbull tells PM
Sydney, Australia: Australian Prime Minister Malcom Turnbull on Saturday assured Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of continuing support to Bangladesh for resolving the Rohingya crisis.
He made assurance at a meeting with Sheikh Hasina at his residence in Australia, reports the UNB.
PM’s press secretary Ihsanul Karim briefed reporters after the meeting.
The Australian Prime Minister said his country will continue to put pressure on Myanmar for taking back their Rohingya nationals to their homeland.
The Bangladesh Prime Minister informed Turnbull of her government’s steps taken for giving temporary shelter to the Rohingyas in Bangladesh as well as her government’s future plans in this regard.
Both leaders discussed the issues of bilateral trade and investment and agreed to find out a viable means to boost their cooperation.
Hasina invited the Australian Prime Minister to visit Bangladesh, and he accepted the invitation, Ihsanul Karim said adding he will visit Bangladesh at a mutually convenient time.
Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali was present at the meeting.
