Trump to host his first-ever Iftar on Wednesday
US President Donald Trump will host an Iftar on Wednesday (May 6) at the White House in honour of Muslims in the holy month of Ramadan.
The Iftar will be followed by a dinner but the guest list was not made available, reports the New York Times.
The dinner will revive a tradition that Republican and Democratic presidents have carried out for years during Ramadan, when Muslims across the world fast during the daylight hours.
The Iftar at the White House is usually attended by prominent members of the Muslim community, diplomats and Congress members.
Earlier, at the beginning of Ramadan, in a statement the president said, ‘Ramadan reminds us of the richness Muslims add to the religious tapestry of American life.’
