Bangladeshi shot dead in Los Angeles
A Bangladeshi national, an employee at a liquor store at North Hollywood, in Los Angeles, USA, was shot and killed during a robbery at the business on Sunday, police said.
He was Mohammed Abul Kalam Rahim, 61, of North Hollywood, according to the coroner’s office, reports hmynewsla.com.
Over a period of one-and-a-half month, Rahim is the fourth Bangladeshi killed in the US. Earlier, on 1 September, a woman named Nazma Khanam was stabbed dead in New York. Before that, Imam Mawlana Md Alauddin, 55, and Tara Mia were shot to death in the same area on 13 August.
‘Officers were dispatched Saturday to the Liquor Mart located on Sherman Way and Bellaire Avenue in response to robbery and assault with a deadly weapon calls, according to Sgt. Tom Holder of the LAPD’s North Hollywood station.’
‘Officers arriving at the scene said Kalam had been shot to death, Holder said.’
‘It appears that it was a robbery — and something that had occurred during the robbery that caused the victim to be shot,’ he said.
