Yunus receives gold medal from Modi
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi awarded a gold medal to Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus while inaugurating The 104th Indian Science Congress in Triputi, India on Tuesday.
Professor Yunus received the award along with five other Nobel Laureates who were invited as the key speakers in the Congress. Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Chandra Babu Naidu and several union ministers as well as famous Indian scientists also spoke during the inauguration.
The speakers including Prime Minister Modi talked about India’s science policy and how science and tech research is transforming Indian society and making it into a leader in the world.
The five-day science congress has brought together some of the best scientists from all over India, some from abroad as well as key science policy makers and administrators; while some 20,000 researchers, teachers and students at all levels from all over India assembled in this beautiful temple city under the Tirumala Hills.
On this occasion, the whole city took a festive look with an attractive exposition in science on display. Professor Yunus spoke in one of the plenary sessions on Wednesday. The venue of the Congress is in Sri Venkateswara University in Triputi.
