Bangladesh, Norway, Jordan hold anti-terrorism discussion at UN

Bangladesh along with Norway and Jordan held discussion on Wednesday against terrorism at the United Nations (UN) headquarters in New York.

The discussion focused on finding an effective way out to curb militancy, terrorism and violent extremism, reports BSS.

Speaking on the occasion, Bangladesh Ambassador and its Permanent

Representative to the UN Masud Bin Momen said, ‘Bangladesh has successfully stamped out internal terrorism following the ‘zero tolerance policy’ of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.’

‘Bangladesh has already taken all out measures to ensure to stop setting up camps of regional and international terror or militant gangs in its territory,’ he also said.

Taking part in the discussion, Bangladesh Jamiya Ulama Chairman and also Khatib of Sholakia Eidgah Maulana Farid Uddin Masud said, ‘Islam is a religion of peace, equity, and tolerance and it never supports terrorism and militancy.’

Among the panel discussants, Norwegian deputy minister Laila Bokhari, permanent representative of Jordan to the UN Dr Sima Sami Bahous, director of the UN’s Counter Terrorism Implementation Task Force (CTITF) Zahangir Khan and Norwegian noted film director Dia Khan, spoke on the occasion.
