55 Bangladeshis arrested in West Bengal

Indian police detained 55 Bangladeshis in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas in the last two days in allegations with illegal trespass.

Habra police said 21 Bangladeshis were arrested from a house in Habra Bazar area at about 8:00am on Thursday.  

Police said, ‘There are nine women, three children and nine men among the arrestees. They are the residents of Jessore, Khulna and Narayanganj. They entered into India aided by a Bangladeshi smuggling agent. Police arrested Moslem Moral in this connection.’

Some of the Bangladeshi arrestees said Moslem Moral tempted to send them in Bihar and Moharashtra through Kolkata and to manage job there.

Habra police IC Moinak Bandyapadyay said there were arrested for not getting any valid papers to enter into India. They primarily confessed that they had entered into India to get work. Police also recovered 89,250 Indian rupees from them.

Earlier on Wednesday afternoon, Border Security Force (BSF) detained 34 Bangladeshis from Bangaon border area. The detainees were handed over to Bangaon Police Station on the night. A case was filed against them for illegal trespass in India.
