Dhaka: Two young artists from Bangladesh have won gold medals in the art competition titled ‘Asian Artpic-2018’ organised by Japan Shinkyoku Art Research Institute in Japan recently.

They are painter, sculptor and graphic designer Sharif Ahmed and painter Fazlur Rahman Bhutan, reports the UNB.

The subject of the competition was Fuji Mountain.

The realistic theme became remarkably visible in five oil paints of Sharif Ahmed which brought him the glory of winning gold medal in the competition, said a press release on Tuesday.

Sharif’s every piece of artwork bears some hallmark of distinctive values.

Sharif whose base of craftsmanship as an artist developed as a student of the Ceramics Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Dhaka University won the prestigious Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin Gold Medal from the university in 2007.

It is his outstanding realistic works that brought someone from the Ceramics Department the glory of winning the award for the first time in its history.

The title ‘Father of Realistic Pottery’ was conferred upon Sharif Ahmed for his contribution to earthen crafts, as an inspiration for the students to the practice of realistic arts.

Apart from pottery, he has also shown signs of dexterity in making sculptures, terracotta and mural works.

Sharif Ahmed has made a conspicuous position in the games industry of Bangladesh.

While working for games developing firm Appnometry Limited, he could show outstanding performance in modelling of 50 games (3D and 2D) of the ICT Division, correcting modelling, levelling design, animation and other types of works.

This celebrated artist cherishes a desire of projecting Bangladesh in the global arena with his special artworks.
