Photography exhibition ‘in the name of…’
A group photography exhibition titled ‘in the name of…’, organised by Alliance for Mitigating Racism Altogether (AMRA), began on March 20 in La Galerie of Alliance Française de Dhaka (AFD).
Chhayanaut chairperson and founder member Sanjida Khatun, Ain o Salish Kendra executive director Sultana Kamal, and Liberation War Museum trustee and founder director Akku Choudhury were among the distinguished guests present in the opening of the show.
‘in the name of…’ is a wakeup call for all. The exhibition portrays a small fraction of communal violation took place in different areas of Bangladesh.
Worldwide communal violation is taking place either in the name of religion or in the name of politics. Now it is time to realise that it is not justified to kill, burn or rape people in the name of whoever or whatever.
AMRA started its journey on 3 March as a volunteer social organisation to fight communalism. Since then, its volunteers have gone to the furthest corners of the country to stand beside the victims of communal attack and extended financial, mental and ethical support.
The exhibition is open to all until 28 March in La Galerie from Monday to Thursday (3:00pm to 9:00pm), Friday and Saturday (9:00am to12:00noon and 5:00pm to 8:00pm), except for Sunday.
