Dhaka: The fourth anniversary of death of famous fiction writer, playwright and filmmaker Humayun Ahmed was observed with due respect on Tuesday.
Humayun Ahmed’s two younger brothers—Professor Muhammad Zafar Iqbal and Cartoonist Ahsan Habib—along with their family members and relatives placed wreaths at his grave in Nuhash Palli in Gazipur.
Later, Humayun’s wife Meher Afroz Shaon, also a songwriter, singer and actress, with her two sons—Nishad and Ninit—offered prayers at the grave at about 11:45am.
Recitations from the Quran and prayer sessions were held at Nuhash Palli, the most favourite retreat of the popular writer, after zhur prayers.
Different socio-cultural organisations also observed the day with elaborate programmes.
Humayun Ahmed died on 19 July 2012 at Bellevue Hospital, New York, at the age of 64 after a nine-month battle against cancer.
