Tagore’s 75th death anniv today
Today, 6 August 2016, marks the 75th death anniversary of the legendary poet Rabindranath Tagore.
Different socio-cultural organisations have chalked out various programmes to mark the day.
Tagore, who enriched the Bengali language and literature with his astounding talent and merit, died in 1941 at the age of 80.
He composed hundreds of poems, stories and novels to take the literary creations to their zenith.
Bangladesh Betar and TV channels will broadcast special programmes on the occasion.
Bangla Academy and Shilpakala Academy will organise different programmes to recall Tagore's contribution to arts and culture, reports UNB.
Cultural organisation Chhayanaut will organise an array of programmes featuring dance, songs and discussion at its Ramesh Chandra Auditorium at 7:00pm.
Meanwhile, a two-day international conference titled ‘Tagore’s education thoughts’ began at Uttara Lotus Club in the city on Friday.
Uttara University, Bengali Department of Jahangirnagar University (JU) and Rabindra Bharati University of India jointly organised the conference.
