Faridpur: The 5th death anniversary of renowned filmmaker Tareque Masud and cinematographer Mishuk Munier will be observed on Saturday, reprts UNB.

Tareque Masud Memorial Trust, Traeque Masud Memorial Centre and quarterly literature magazine ‘Uthon’ (Yard) have chalked out elaborate programmes on the occasion.

Tareque’s brother Habibur Rahman Masud said they will place wreaths at the grave of the slain filmmaker at his village Nurpur in Bhanga upazila of Faridpur at 9:30am.

An art and handwriting contest of children will be held at the upazila headquarters at 10:00am.

Besides, a photography exhibition of Tareque Masud and discussion will be held at Right Track Kindergarten in the district town at about 4:00pm.

On 13 August in 2011, Tareque and Mishuk along with three others were killed in a tragic road accident on Dhaka-Aricha highway in Ghior upazila of Manikganj while returning to Dhaka from Manikganj after visiting a filming location.

The accident happened when a microbus carrying the two celebrities collided with a bus on the highway.
