Dhaka: A unique photo exhibition, Bhutan Dairies, began at Drik Gallery in Dhaka’s Dhanmondi on 26 January.

Two groups of Photographers did in October 2015 and May 2016 participated in a ‘Photo Expedition to Bhutan’ mentored by prominent photographer and founder of ‘Through the Lens Bangladesh’ Saud Al Faisal.

The expeditions were organised by ‘Traventure,’ a Bangladeshi adventure travel operator. ‘Bhutan Diaries’ is an exhibition of select 44 photographs from these expeditions taken by 16 photographers in Bhutan. This is also the first ever photo exhibition on Bhutan being held in Bangladesh.

The inauguration program of Bhutan Diaries exhibition was highlighted speeches by Prominent Writer and Publisher Moinul Ahsan Saber; Former Minister and MP Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan; Ambassador and Head of the European Union Delegation to Bangladesh, Pierre Mayaudon; Ambassador of Norway to Bangladesh, Sidsel Bleken; and DR of Congo Consul General in Bangladesh and The CEO of Top Mind, Ziauddin Adil.

Writer and Publisher Moinul Ahsan Saber said ‘Photo expedition is a great twist to tourism. It takes you close to the people, culture, and nature of the place one is visiting. It is an engaging experience. Far more rewarding than just a tour. I am happy that Traventure came up with this concept and looking forward to see more such exhibitions in the future.’

Former Minister and MP Dr.Abdul Moyeen Khan said ‘Adventure travel is a growing sector in tourism. This niche sector is getting more popular as the youth and the youthful amongst us are looking for active experiences when they are traveling.’

DR of Congo Consul General in Bangladesh, and CEO of Top Mind, Ziauddin Adil said ‘This can be a new cultural bondage between the people of two countries Bangladesh and Bhutan. Photography and adventure travel in general will let us know and understand each other better. I hope similar programs will be organised in Bangladesh also for tourists interested in Bangladesh.’

The exhibition will continue till 28 January.
