Dhaka: The second autobiography of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, 'Karagarer Rojnamcha', will formally be published on Friday.

Bangla Academy is publishing the 332-page book on Bangabandhu's jail life in Bangla on the occasion of the 97th birth anniversary of the great leader.

The book will be available in Bangla Academy stalls with its price being fixed at Tk 400.

The book titled 'Karagarer Rojnamcha' (Diary in Jail) of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was handed over to his two daughters -- Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Sheikh Rehana on Wednesday.

Bangla Academy Director General Shamsuzzaman Khan formally handed over a copy of the book to them at a simple ceremony at Ganobhaban.

An academy press release on Thursday said the book will be the description of historical jail life of the great leader from 1966 to 1968 during the Pakistan regime. But this will not be the part of his first book 'Unfinished Memoirs'. It is a new book based on his dairy.

It said Bangabandhu had used to write his daily political and other activities of his contemporary time and maintained the practice even in his jail life.

"Pakistan government seized six dairies written by Bangabandhu when he was released from jail in December, 1969 and four of them were returned later. However, one of the two remaining diaries was later recovered with the help of the Special Branch after Sheikh Hasina's government came to power in 2009," it added.

Sheikh Hasina who wrote the preface of the book announced in the book unveiling ceremony on Wednesday that two more autobiographies of Bangabandhu -- one on the Agartala conspiracy case and other on his China tour -- will be published soon.

Professor Fakrul Alam of Dhaka University's English department will translate the book into English in the next two months while Tarik Sujat designed its cover based on a sketch painting of Rasel Kanti Das.
